Lord Mayor officially opens The Village at Yeronga

On the 20th January 2010, the Honourable Campbell Newman, the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, officially opened The Village at Yeronga in the company of over 100 residents, directors, staff and invited guests.

The Lord Mayor stated that The Village at Yeronga has certainly set new standards in retirement living in Brisbane, with it's wide range of community facilities and the quality standards of the Village and the units. He also commented on the location of the Village. Being just 5 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and almost completely surrounded by parks and sporting fields, The Village at Yeronga allowed residents of the southern suburbs of Brisbane to remain close to the area they have always lived in and to continue to enjoy the facilities and services that inner city Brisbane offers.

Chairman of Yeronga Village Pty Ltd, Michael Harrison, addressed the gathering and thanked the residents for their support of the Village during the planning and construction stages of the project. He stated that the Village now has 85 residents, with the population expected to reach 120 by Easter. Mr Harrison advised the attendees that the commencement of construction of the Aged Care Facility is scheduled for February 2010.

After the official opening and the cutting of the cake, Lord Mayor Campbell Newman joined Michael and Justin Harrison, the residents and guests, for morning tea.

80% of Stage 1 Sold

On the day before Christmas 2009, The Village at Yeronga reached the sales level of 80% of Stage 1. 72 of the 91 independent living units have been sold.

Ric Cohen, Sales Manager of the Village stated that the popularity of the Village was due to many factors. Importantly, now that the Village is open and has over 85 residents, prospective residents can inspect a "living" village and get a snapshot of the retirement lifestyle they could enjoy if they become a resident.

Mr Cohen advised that the location close to the city, the setting in parklands, the quality of the finishes and the standard of the community facilities were the physical features that initially attracted people to investigate the Village. It is the pricing of the units, the cost of the weekly fees, the level of services available for residents (now and in the future) and the sense of community within the Village that have tended to be the deciding factors for people to commit to buying into the Village.

If you have considered a retirement lifestyle, you should visit The Village at Yeronga to experience what a modern retirement village can offer you.

Contact Ric or Alison on 3892 5454, to make an appointment to inspect the display unit and community facilities at The Village at Yeronga. The Sales Office is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
